I am wondering why you would teach students NOT to go into class B airspace while learning to fly. You mentioned in one of you earlier podcast that students are instructed to and tested(?) on avoiding class B. I don't understand the reasoning behind that one. I learned to fly in Akron, OH at Akron/Canton Regional (KCAK) and on my dual and solo cross country flights my instructor (an 11,000 hour CFII) had me bore a hole right through Clevelands Class B. It was up to me to plan the flight and make sure I had the frequencys for the transition. I also was responsible for making the radio calls. This was at about the 29 hour mark in my training. I am thankful for that training because I have "no fear" when it comes to dealing with ATC even in bravo airspace, I actually enjoy it. Just for kicks and giggles I fly from KCAK to KLBE for that $200 meal just to go dashing through KPIT's bravo. So I guess my question is, why not break students of that fear early in there training?
