I'm thinking of ordering this from Sporty's... At $280 it's expensive, but ideally less expensive than learning button-ology in the airplane. I have the Max Trescott CD's which are good, but basic.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

On a similar note, I spent two hours in a Red Brid FMX 1000 full motion simulator this weekend and was less than impressed.

CONS:
- $80/hour
- It's MS Flight Simulator (That's right, $80/hr for MS Flight Sim)
- The motion is not accurate enough to develop any truly applicable flying skill, i.e. it doesn't represent slips or skids at all and the sight picture isn't very similar to the real place. So, in short the motion is a novelty.
- I started to get motion sickness.
- No ATC interaction (unless your CFI is sitting next to you)

PROS:
- The G1000 panel is recreated 90% accurately.
- It's a great tool to remember button-pushing, knob-twisting & switch-throwing.
- Probably very useful for instrument training; less so for PPL... As is the case with most simulators.
